One of China Nonferrous Metal Group’s local
entities in Zambia is set for commissioning this month-end.
A company spokesperson, Sydney Chileya has said
Muliashi mine, which is still under exploration and drilling, is still
stockpiling copper ore, ahead of the official inauguration of operations.
The commissioning of the open cast mine to
produce 49,000 metric tonnes of copper, will also signal the completion of the
construction of the leach plant.
The leach plant was expected
to be complete four weeks after the first blast on December 29, 2011.
