Zambia holds the key for increased
operations for Engen Petroleum, a unit of Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional Bhd.
The multi-national petroleum company
has also set acquisitions and new sites to help double its Sub-Saharan
operations outside South Africa.
According to the Bloomberg, the company,
which also operates entities in Zambia has plans to increase the number of gas
stations to 1,000 by 2016.
Currently the company operates about
500 across 18 southern African countries.
Mike Cook, Engen’s international
business retail manager, has said regional expansion will be led by Zambia,
Zimbabwe and Mozambique as well as Botswana.
Mr Cook has further disclosed Engen is
looking to acquisitions and mergers in Kenya and Ivory Coast among other
countries.
