Zambia’s copper exports slowed down in the first 11
months of last year, the Bank of Zambia has disclosed.
According to the central bank’s latest fortnight report, 790,000
metric tonnes of copper were exported between January and November 2011, down
from 820,000 metric tonnes for the previous year.
The respective period has coincided with the new Patriotic Front government’s then temporal ban on copper exports in order to facilitate metal exports reforms, all to be channeled through the Bank of Zambia.
