STAKEHODLERS CALL FOR CAUTION AS ZAMBIA ADJUSTS NATIONAL TAX REGIME

A business consultant has called for caution as government works to adjust the national taxation system.
Lawrence Chileshe, a former Assistant General Manager of Chamber of Mines, also says government must prioritise adjusting the mines tax regime.
Mr Chileshe has explained that the upward adjustment of the respective tax regime would be to make it fall in tandem with international standards.
He has however said the adjustments should be done cautiously to avoid any rebuttal repercussions.
And Alliance for Democracy and Development President, Charles Milupi says the sudden dissolution of boards in some parastatals bodies might affect the economy.
Mr Milupi says as much as institutions like ZESCO and Zambia Revenue Authority –ZRA- have failed to effectively perform, they should be treated with caution.
He however says there are reports of deals, which are still questionable regarding operations of the parastatals companies.
