ZAMBIA PLANS TO STRENGTHEN ECONOMIC TIES WITH CANADA

The Zambia Development Agency has observed that the just ended Zambia-Canada business forum will strengthen linkages and support new trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.
Speaking at the end of the forum in Ottawa, Canada, ZDA Acting Director for Investment promotion and privatisation Henry Sakala has said the business forum showcased Zambia as the best investment destination in Southern Africa.
This is according to a statement issued in Lusaka today by Press Secretary at the Zambian High Commission in Ottawa, Canada, Ben Kangwa.
Mr Sakala said that the forum was designed to paint a contemporary picture of the investment climate in Zambia saying it offered excellent networking opportunities and highlighted the country’s efforts to attract foreign direct investment.
He explained that the forum provided a platform for Zambia to profile investment in sectors including Agriculture, Tourism, Mining and Infrastructure development to a Canadian audience of over 100 business leaders and investors in both Toronto and Ottawa.
Zambia-Canada economic and trade relations are growing with Canada’s foreign direct investment accounting for more than 75 per cent of Zambia’s foreign exchange earnings.
The relations are also characterized by the sustained trade of high value-added products, good performance of trade in the services sector and an expanded partnership in the natural resources sector.
