Zambia will scrap
a levy on fuel used to fund strategic reserves.
Government says strategic
reserves will now be its sole responsibility.
And to this
effect, government has reduced pump prices of all petroleum products by an
average of 456 kwacha per litre.
Lands, Energy and Water Development Minister, Chris Yaluma announced the
price reductions today at a media briefing in Lusaka.
Petrol will now sell at 8,155 kwacha per litre while Diesel will be sold
at 7,566 kwacha for a litre.
The pump price for Kerosene has been reduced by 486 kwacha from 5,641
kwacha to 5,154 kwacha per litre.
Mr Yaluma has further ordered that the new prices take effect mid-night
tonight.
