CENTRAL BANK PROJECTS INCREASED COPPER EXPORTS REVENUE

Zambia’s revenue from exports will probably increase 40 percent to 10.2 billion dollars this year from a year earlier.
According to the Bank of Zambia fortnight update, the forecasts are based on copper exports increase by 46 per cent.
Copper exports revenue are projected to increase from 5.7 billion dollars last year to 8.4 billion dollars this year.
The central bank has noted the higher volumes of copper shipments as well as the obtaining international commodity prices for copper.
An increased trade surplus has also been projected and quoted at 4 billion dollars up from 2.5 billion dollars.
The Lusaka Chambers of commerce and Industry has projected increased construction activities despite the elections upheaval.
LCCI Chairman, Gaudenzio Rossi has also told Muvi TV that the business community is pleased with the infrastructure development achievements in the capital.
He has outlined the role of the private sector in some infrastructure improvement projects like the Kulima tower bus station upgrade as well as some new shopping malls.
