NAWAKWI, KAUNDA AND MUTESA SUCCESSFULLY FILE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATIONS


FDD and UNIP leaders, Edith Nawakwi and Tilyenji Kaunda, respectively, yesterday Sunday, 7th August 2011  successfully filed their presidential nominations.
The two are part of at least 17 aspirants vying for the republican presidency during the 20th September general elections this year.
Mr Kaunda filed his nomination in the morning while Ms Nawakwi filed in the afternoon, all before returning officer, Chief Justice, Ernest Sakala.
Later, Mr Kaunda told the media that UNIP promises to deliver a news constitution within 6 months once elected into power.
And after filing in her nomination, Ms Nawakwi told journalists that the country is ready for a woman President.
Ms Nawakwi was accompanied by the women movement under the Non-Governmental Organisation Coordinating Committee –NGOCC.
Meanwhile, Zambians for Empowerment and Development President, Fred Mutesa has also successfully filed in his nomination.
