COURT UPHOLDS JAIL SENTENCE FOR OUTSPOKEN SATA’S DRIVER, JUDGE NGOMA

The Lusaka high court has upheld Patriotic Front President, Michael Sata’s driver, Judge Ngoma’s 3-year jail sentence slapped on him.
This is in a case, in which, Ngoma had appealed against the sentence slapped on him by the Lusaka Magistrate court on 3rd August 2010.
The Lusaka magistrate court had convicted and further sentenced Ngoma on charges of assaulting and abducting former PF member, Samson Zulu.
In delivering judgment on the appeal today, High court judge, Emelia Sunkutu said the 3-year jail term did not come as a shock to her because the maximum sentence for assault charges was 5 years.
She further stated that the court has a duty to protect and defend citizens from such acts of assault.
