The UPND has left out seven of its current MPs in the ongoing adoptions for the next elections.
Those replaced include party chairman Edward Kasoko who has been MP for Mwembeshi in Mumbwa and newly elected MP for Chilanga captain Cosmos Moono.
And the UPND has adopted Imbuwa Imbuwa, the man known for making phone calls to all radio discussion programs as candidate for Kabwata constituency in Lusaka.
The National Executive Committee of the party met Wednesday and rejected Regina Musokotwane for Katombora, further adopting the party’s late leader, Anderson mazoka’s wife, Mutinta to replace David Matongo in Pemba constituency.
The party’s Deputy Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa has replaced George Chazangwe in Choma centra while in In Itezhi-Tezhi, Godffrey Beene has been rejected in preference for Monde Monde.
The other serving MP, who has been rejected is Raphael Muyanda of Sinazongwe while all other MPs who served in the immediate past parliament under the party’s ticket have been retained.
The highest body of the party, the National Management Committee will sit on Thursday 4th August 2011 to look at the recommendations of the NEC but those familiar with the process say few changes are expected.
