ZAMBIA RECOVERS 1,600 KILOGRAMMES OF SMUGGLED IVORY

The Zambian government has recovered elephant ivory comprising 150 tusks and 100 ivory hankos with total weight of 1,653 Kilogrammes.
The ivory was illegally exported from the country in 2002 but has been handed back after the completion of investigations by Lusaka Agreement Task Force.
Task Force Director-General, Bonaventure Ebai has said the ivory was recovered by Singapore customs authorities and consequently brought back through Kenya in 2004.
And Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary, Peter Mumba says illegal trade in wildlife resources must be avoided at all costs.
