A hard-fought 2-1 victory over Comoros
today has propelled Zambia to the summit of Group C in the Africa Cup of
Nations qualifiers.
Zambia has now accumulated 12 points,
one more than Libya, who beat Mozambique 1-nil yesterday.
The chipolopolo boys, who struggled
against the Comoros, scored first through captain, Christopher Katongo before
the Islanders later equalised.
The Zambians later scored the match
winner through substitute, Emmanuel Mayuka with a few minutes before the end of
the game played in the Comoros capital city, Moroni.
Following the win, Zambia will only need a draw
against Libya on 8th October, 2011 to qualify for the continental
soccer show-piece to be hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
