SADC AND COMESA TO SEND ELECTION OBSERVER TEAMS

A 40-member observer team from the SADC parliamentary forum is expected in the country tomorrow ahead of the 20th September general elections.
The team, to be led by a Nambian parliamentarian, Eliphas Dingara, will be in the country at the invitation of the Zambian government.
This is contained in a press statement made available to Muvi TV by the of the SADC parliamentary forum Secretary-General. 
While in Zambia the mission will consult with all electoral stakeholders including the ECZ, political parties, the diplomatic community and civil society.
Meanwhile, the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa –COMESA- has established a command centre for its election observer mission ahead of the 20th September general elections.
COMESA Acting Secretary General, Nagla El Hussainy has disclosed that eminent men and women from different countries in the region will be part of its independent observer team.
Ms El Hussainy has outlined COMESA’s determination and commitment to propelling stronger democratic process in the region.
Meanwhile, she has underscored the importance of elections noting that the process allows people take part in the selection of national leaders.
