STAKEHOLDERS CALL FOR TOLL GATES ON ZAMBIAN ROADS

Zambia’s recorded economic growth has seen huge inflow of capital goods, meant for setting up businesses.
And the country’s geographical location has equally seen it being used as a transit route by its 8 neighbouring countries for transportation of goods.
This has contributed to the wear and tear of roads, prompting some civil society organisations to advocate the introduction of Toll gates.
Civil Society for Poverty Reduction Program Advocacy Officer, William Chilufya says a consortium of non-governmental organisations is since proposing a 250,000 kwacha charge per truck.
