The Zambia National Women’s Lobby Group has urged government to ensure
that it comes up with a pro-people’s rights constitution.
The Lobby Group’s Chairperson, Beauty Phiri has argued that Zambian people
want a constitution driven by critical-masses.
Meanwhile, Ms Phiri has further challenged government to ensure linkages
between itself and the grassroot communities.
And Ms Phiri has bemoaned the low number of women, who contested in the
20th September general elections, which consequently produced only
17 female members of parliament.
UPND Leader, Hakainde Hichilema has told the
new government to quickly get down to work.
Mr Hichilema says government should not focus
on acts of vengeance but instead start delivering on its promises.
Speaking at a press
briefing today, Mr Hichilema has added that the UPND will however support
government on what he described as progressive policies.
