STAKEHOLDERS MAKE PECULIAR DEMANDS FROM NEW GOVERNMENT

The Lusaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the new government to start budgeting for the implementation of the Lusaka master plan.
The plan, created by JICA, encompasses modern sustainable housing, water, transport, road infrastructure, waste management and recreation facilities.
The Chamber of Commerce says there is need to implement the master plan, which was approved by parliament in 2009.
LCCI Chairman, Gaudensio Rossi has since implored government to include the Lusaka master plan in all the annual national budgets.
He has explained that a minimum of 10 million dollars allocated annually for the master plan will have more a positive impact in Lusaka province.
And the Consumer Unit and Trust Society International has asked government to take keen interest in consumers’ affairs.
CUTS International Zambia Chairman, Love Mtesa has further observed that the previous government did not interest in the welfare of consumers.
Mr Mtesa now says the new government must show a difference take interest.
And Mr Mtesa has expressed CUTS’ concern at the MMD government’s refusal to accept a 4th mobile phone operator.
Meanwhile, Mr Mtesa is also concerned with what he terms as lack of transparency in some deals by the previous government like the sale of Finance Bank Zambia.
