PUBLIC MEDIA CITED FOR BLATANT BIA COVERAGE

The Zambia Election Media Monitoring Project has again cited the public media for blatant bias coverage towards the MMD.
The project has further cited the private media for being bias towards the opposition Patriotic Front at the expense of other parties in the country.
In the latest report, public media coverage is said to contain 50 per cent of MMD material, 19 per cent for the PF and 15 per cent for the rest of the political parties.
Similarly, the project says private media content is 25 per cent MMD, 50 per cent PF and only 25 per cent other parties.
And MISA Zambia Chairperson, Daniel Sikazwe has said today that the trend is contravening the electoral code of conduct.
Mr Sikazwe has since called for diversified media coverage, to include policy issues such as poverty and corruption.
