INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY SPEAKS ON ZAMBIAN POLLS

Swedish Ambassador to Zambia, Marie Andersson de Frutos says the SADC observer mission is vital as it will protect the integrity of Zambia’s electoral system.
Mrs de Frutos was speaking today at a 2-day training workshop for the SADC Parliamentary Election Observation Mission delegation.
She has stated that the observer mission will also make recommendations to key stakeholders to contribute to strengthening the electoral process.
The respective observer mission, comprising 20 Members of Parliament from 12 SADC countries, is in the country ahead of the 20th September general elections.
And the European Union observer team, dispatched to Northern province, has urged Zambians to take 20th September general elections seriously.
EU observer mission representative, Annie-Lise Majaatvedt says there is need for all registered voters to exercise their democratic right of choosing leaders of their choice.
Ms Majaatvedt has told ZANIS that Zambia is capable of holding credible elections if all stakeholders in the electoral process play their roles.
She has since advised electoral players to ensure that they adhere to the provisions of the electoral code of conduct.
