Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) has described Government’s performance in relation to accountability and transparency in the use of public resources as poor.
Speaking to journalists in Lusaka on Monday evening, CSPR Acting Executive Director Mwila Mulumbi said it is sad to note that leadership in the country has failed to be prudent in its utilization of tax payer’s money.
She said there is need for the public procurement act to compel Government to publish information on what has been purchased so that citizens are aware of its activities.
In addition Mulumbi said the current regime has failed in its management and execution of poverty reduction funds although more resources were allocated in the 2011 budget.
She further said leadership must prioritize poverty reduction programs and fight against irregularities that hamper the fight.
