SCRAP METAL LADEN TRUCKS MAROONED AT BORDER POSTS

More than 20 trucks carrying scrap metal from Zambia to South Africa are marooned at some borders due to a new Statutory Instrument.
The new statutory instrument number 64 of 15th July 2011 bans the export of select waste and scrap metals of precious mineral nature.
Some members of the Scrap Metal Association have since expressed displeasure at the move.
And speaking in an interview, Association member, Jimmy Luo wonders why the trucks carrying scrap metal have been detained at the border posts.
