OPPOSITION MMD STILL CLINGS ON TO RETIRED RUPIAH BANDA

The opposition MMD says former republican president, Rupiah Banda is still the leader of the party.

Party Deputy National Secretary, Chembe Nyangu says the MMD holds Mr Banda in high esteem because of his distinguished service to both the country and the party.

ZANIS reports that Mr Nyangu has stated that the MMD needs the services of Mr Banda in organising and preparing the party for the 2016 general elections.

Mr Banda announced his retirement from active politics when he bid farewell to the nation after his loss to the ruling party President, Michael Sata.
